We are officially Carbon Neutral!
We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset our carbon footprint, to become Certified as a Carbon Neutral Business.
Here at National Flexible, we are committed to a long-term strategy, prioritising our efforts to reduce our impact on the environment. Analysing and assessing all aspects of our business, our company-wide commitment has been the drive behind us becoming carbon neutral and we are extremely excited to announce the good news!
But how did we get here, and what are we doing to ensure we stay here?
As part of our carbon reducing journey, we teamed up with Ecologi, the market leader in collective climate action. Offering individuals and businesses the ability to subscribe to climate change solutions, a monthly subscription mitigates the carbon footprint of all our people, as well as contributing to the planting of trees.
Alongside the planting of 6,130 trees, we have supported many wonderful ‘Gold’ accredited climate projects around the world, including producing electricity from wind power in Northeast Thailand, Honduras, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Vietnam. Other projects have included providing high efficiency cookstoves in Tanzania, preserving Amazonian rainforest in Brazil, using waste biomass to produce electricity in Chile, improving the efficiency of metro transport in India, and capturing methane to reduce emissions and generate energy in India.
Recent investments have been made, with £80K for our new Grasscrete surface car park and £40K for a power saving system, which has replaced all lighting throughout our production facilities and warehouse with LED lighting and energy management to reduce our electricity requirements from the National Grid. 100% of our plastic is recycled in the UK, with all remaining general waste is compacted and is collected and taken to Leeds energy from waste plant (EFW) for incineration. We also now produce our own electricity through solar panels.
Taking our environmental responsibilities very seriously, we are continually striving to go one step further, neutralising our carbon impact on the planet, with our values ‘Caring, Sharing, Being Different’ reflecting our essence and aspirations for the future. We are proud to have received our certificate verifying that National Flexible Limited has met all Carbon Neutral Britain Certification™ standards in measuring, calculating and carbon offsetting organisational carbon emissions within the Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions boundary, offsetting 1030.65 tonnes of CO2e emissions via a portfolio of offsetting projects around the world.
